The series, from creator-writer Jim Leonard, stars Jennifer Finnigan as prosecutor Annabeth Chase in a city that looks like Indianapolis but doesn't go by any particular name. Annabeth is returning to her job after a 12-week maternity leave, her "raging hormones," as she describes them, by no means dissipated. In the premiere, Scofield starts out as an unsympathetic workaholic but, at the end, there are unmistakable indications that a maternal heart beats within her breast, yet another warm, fuzzy touch for which royalties are probably owed to Lifetime.
