Winning another exceedingly vicious game of Last Vampire Standing, Wesley Snipes reprises the lead role in this blood-soaked sequel to New Line's 1998 hit "Blade." With Kris Kristofferson also returning as token human Whistler, "Blade II" is technically impressive but relentlessly unpleasant if one is not a fan of such violent goings-on. With little romance and good guys who are technically bad guys but are fighting even badder guys, "Blade II" is infused with maximum energy by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro ("The Devil's Backbone"), improving the franchise's basic attractions over the original's less-than-inspiring direction by Stephen Norrington.
