Pairing A&E's Indiefilms (the cable net's branch devoted to feature documentaries) with Chuck Braverman's "Abused" might have seemed wise. Braverman earned an Oscar nomination for a documentary short in 2002; A&E has a history of crime-related programming. Braverman (who produced with Marilyn Braverman and Rob King) uses a cinema verite style to portray the quest of Susan Greenburg, convicted in 1987 of shooting Richard Turner Jr., for a chance at a new trial or different judgment, thanks to a change in California law.
