Rappers Method Man and Redman make like a hip-hop Cheech & Chong in "How High," a wonky stoner comedy that puts the notion of higher education in a whole new, haze-filled light.
Bluntly taking quick hits off everything from "Legally Blonde" to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," not to mention "Friday," "Field of Dreams" and even "Heaven Can Wait," this frantic first feature by Jesse Dylan (Bob's boy) aims low but smacks the funny bone considerably more often than it misses, which, by this year's bottom-feeding standards, is a notable, if dubious, achievement.
The Universal release may be facing a glut of high-profile holiday releases this weekend, but, taking a counterprogramming cue from last year's far inferior but moderately successful "Dude, Where's My Car?" the picture might well share in a little male-dominated yuletide cheer.
