A teen laugher that has no redeeming qualities -- not its filmmaking, performances or short running time -- "Orange County" ostensibly is concerned with the reduced expectations of an aspiring young writer born and raised "behind the Orange Curtain" and his quest to get out. The exit door at the theater might beckon too strongly for viewers not on the film's derivative, cartoonish wavelength. An MTV Films/Paramount Pictures creation produced by Scott Rudin and headlined by several new-generation Hollywood middleweights, "Orange" will benefit from Viacom's promotional prowess during its opening weekend.
