Billing itself as an "inspirational coming-of-age love story" that mainly inspires gaping yawns and eye-rolling smirks, the sickeningly saccharine "A Walk to Remember" is a motion picture to forget. Based on a popular novel by Nicholas Sparks (who also was responsible for the book that begat "Message in a Bottle"), this cliche-ridden slab of drudgery reveals the miracles that can happen if high school bad boy "Once and Again's" Shane West falls head over heels for the bible-clutching Miss Goody Two-Shoes, played with placid virtuousness by teen pop singer Mandy Moore. More lethal than the most monotonous of Sunday sermons, the Warner Bros. release's theatrical life isn't long for this cold, uncaring world.
