Royal Engagement, the holy-smokes-I'm-a-princess! character played by Anne Hathaway is at least three years older than the gawky, accident-prone girl in the original film. What's more, Hathaway is one of those talented young actresses whose presence would enlighten a movie version of the Dead Sea Scrolls and co-star Julie Andrews is, well, Julie Andrews, one of cinema's true royalty. The script by Shonda Rhimes (from a story by Rhimes and Gina Wendkos, the first film's writer) settles for half-baked humor and tired jokes.
