Unfortunately, "Cursed," a modern-day werewolf tale that fails to provide either Craven's trademark chills or Williamson's trademark satirical wit, is a distinctly subpar film that, but for the current boxoffice streak enjoyed by such formulaic genre entries, deserved to go direct to video.
Despite the seminal advances in special effects in the intervening decades, "Cursed" lacks even the chills of the Lon Chaney Jr. version from the 1930s.
Set in contemporary Hollywood, it depicts the unfortunate consequences that result when Ellie (Christina Ricci), who works as a talent coordinator for Craig Kilborn's television show, and her nebbishy estranged brother Jimmy (Jesse Eisenberg) find themselves bitten by a strangely large wolf while attempting to rescue a car crash victim (Shannon Elizabeth) in the Hollywood hills.
