Too tame and arty for the teen sex crowd and too luridly gothic for more serious-minded audiences, Jamie Babbit's "The Quiet" lives up to its title all too accurately. Slowly paced and filmed with a monochromatic visual palette and video-induced graininess, this ludicrously plotted drama of incestuous sexual abuse is only partially redeemed by its strong performances. Elisha Cuthbert ("24," "The Girl Next Door") and Camilla Belle ("The Ballad of Jack and Rose," "When a Stranger Calls") play the central roles of Nina and Dot, respectively.
