'Mamma' dethrones 'Knight' on sales chart

December 24, 2008 Universal Studios Home Entertainment scored big on the national home video charts the week ending Dec. 21, with a pair of releases topping both the sales and the rental charts their first week in stores. "Mamma Mia!" bowed at No. 1 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and earns the distinction of displacing Warner's "The Dark Knight" as the top-selling DVD in the country. For the week, however, "Mamma Mia!" outsold the Batman sequel, which did about 85% as much business its sophomore week as the musical comedy built around ABBA's hits, which earned $143.7 million in theaters.
