'Trek' on track for big bow

May 09, 2009 Paramount's well-reviewed prequel to the studio's long-running film space-exploration franchise, "Trek" registered an impressive $31 million in estimated domestic boxoffice over a stretched first day of release. The big start to the weekend would seem to keep "Trek" on track for a bow of somewhere between $65 million to $75 million, or dead center in the unually broad range of industry forecasts that circulated prior to the film's release. Produced for a reported $140 million, the film has Spyglass Entertainment as a 25% equity participant.
