October 23, 2008 However, overall locations shoots, as monitored by the nonprofit FilmL.A., were down only marginally thanks to an upswing in TV production, buoyed by increases in dramatic series and reality TV filming. Film production, reflecting an ad hoc shut-down because of labor uncertainty, was down 38%, while commercial shoots, a victim of the deteriorating economy, were off 24%. Offsetting that, the overall TV numbers were up 17%, with TV dramas posting the largest gain, 23%, followed by reality TV at 14%.
