AFI names year's best


December 14, 2008 "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man," two of the summer's comic book-inspired hits, secured spots on the list of the American Film Institute's 10 outstanding movies of 2008, announced Sunday. The AFI will honor the creative ensembles behind the films and series at its AFI Awards 2008 luncheon on Jan. 9 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. The motion picture jury consisted of chair Leonard Maltin along with Jeanine Basinger, Mary Corey, Mark Harris, Jim Hosney, Rick Jewell, Elvis Mitchell, Daniel Petrie Jr., Tom Pollock, Richard Schickel, Vivian Sobchack, Anne Thompson and Robert Towne.
