'Breathless' wins in Vladivostok


September 29, 2009 SEOUL -- “Breathless,” an indie feature by South Korean director Yang Ik-june won the grand prize and best actress award at the 7th Vladivostok International Film Festival “Pacific Meridian,” which ended Friday. The festival, devoted to films of Asian Pacific countries and held annually in the Russian Far East port city, brought over 200 films and was headed by a jury including directors Chow Wing Keung (Hong Kong), Iwai Sunji (Japan) and Leonid Rybakov (Russia). During Friday’s closing ceremony, the festival’s jury also awarded “Jerrycan” by Australian helmer Julius Avery for best short film, and “Swimming Lesson” by Singapore’s Kat Goh as the special mention.
