Lifetime sets its 'Project Runway' premiere
April 21, 2009 The announcement was made at Lifetime's upfront presentation Tuesday in New York, where the cable network also unveiled a development slate that includes drama series based on the movies "Mona Lisa Smile" and "Mystic Pizza," an original movie exec produced by country star Garth Brooks and the J.D. Roth reality show "Deadbeat Dads." "While 'Project Runway' might be 'fashionably' late in getting to Lifetime, some things in life are worth waiting for," Lifetime Networks president and CEO Andrea Wong said. "Runway" originally was slated to make its Lifetime debut in November, but that was put on hold because of litigation between NBC Universal and the show's producer, the Weinstein Co. A lawsuit was settled this month, with the series' former home Bravo allowed to launch its "Runway" replacement "The Fashion Show" in May, three months ahead of "Runway's" return.
