'Knowing' scores gold in video charts

July 15, 2009 Upstart studio Summit Entertainment scored its second No. 1 DVD hit this year, with the sci-fi thriller "Knowing" debuting in the top spot on both the national sales and rental charts. "Knowing," an $80 million box office hit starring Nicolas Cage as a college professor who opens a mysteriously prophetic time capsule at his son's school, debuted at No. 1 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart as well as Home Media Magazine's rental chart for the week ending July 12, less than four months after the megahit "Twilight" accomplished the same feat. Summit also claimed the No. 2 spot on both the sales and the rental chart with another sci-fi entry, "Push," which earned $31.8 million in theaters.
