The hunter gets captured by the game in "Hard Candy," a hard-hitting psychological thriller in which a 14-year-old girl engages in a high-tension confrontation with the 32-year-old pedophile she met online. An impressive first feature by music video and commercial director David Slade, the often excruciatingly taut film, penned by playwright Brian Nelson, couldn't have arrived at a more opportune moment given recent headlines about child predators trolling MySpace.com and Internet chat rooms. Young Canadian actress Ellen Page is shockingly good in the role of Hayley, a smart, charming teenager who agrees to get together with Jeff (Patrick Wilson), an engaging fashion photographer, at a local coffee shop after meeting cute on the Internet.
