'Cloverfield' tops DVD sales

May 01, 2008 The sci-fi actioner, which generated 58% of its total boxoffice receipts its opening weekend, topped the national DVD sales and rental charts its first week in stores. The film, which topped out just north of $80 million in U.S. theaters, coasted to an easy victory on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, bumping the previous week's top seller, Fox's "Juno," to No. 2. The remake of the Japanese horror film "Chakushin Ari" pulled in $26.9 million theatrically and came to video with gruesome cover art depicting a mask with screaming mouths as eyes.
