'Transformers' grabs $28.6 mil on Day 2


June 26, 2009 Rise of the Fallen continued to steamroll across the boxoffice landscape Thursday, picking up an estimated $28.6 million in its second day of release at the North American boxoffice. Entering the weekend, "Transformers" is now well-positioned to surpass the 6 1/2-day total for the debut of the first "Transformers," which opened on a Monday evening in 2007, played through the Fourth of July holiday, and racked up a domestic gross of $155.4 million by the end of its first Sunday. The new Transformers also has several other boxoffice records in its cross-hairs as it powers by $150 million, moving into $160 million, $170 million or even $180 million territory.
