Deep Impact: Tandem 10th Anniversary
September 29, 2009 The British government had just changed the law governing its tax-rebate scheme, making TV productions like Tandem's "Nibelungs" ineligible. Making matters worse, an investment group had tied its backing of the €20 million ($29.4 million) fantasy two-parter to approval of the U.K. tax credit. Based on the Teutonic legend that inspired J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" saga, it featured Kristanna Loken, German star Benno Furmann and a pre-"Twilight" Robert Pattinson.
