Execs bullish about Blu-ray


June 18, 2008 A panel of high-ranking studio executives projected Blu-ray Disc sales could top $1 billion this year and soar as high as $2.5 billion in 2009. Speaking Monday at TransFORMATions, the seventh annual Home Entertainment Summit, the heads of home entertainment at Disney, Fox, Lionsgate, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner presented a unified voice for the high-definition format on one stage. With American household Blu-ray player penetration forecasted at 2.5 million to 3 million by year's end, the studios don't believe the figures to be that far-fetched.
