Local TV pioneer dies
July 09, 2009 George Resing Jr., a groundbreaking local TV executive who is credited with creating the evening magazine show, died June 6 at his home in Novato, Calif. After his work in Ohio and at stations in Chicago and Atlanta, Resing in 1973 moved to the San Francisco area, where he was named general manager of Westinghouse station KPIX-TV. There he put together a team of producers, editors and reporters for a new show called "Evening Magazine," which was syndicated across the country as "PM Magazine."
