HBO's 'John Adams' tops Creative Emmys
September 13, 2008 HBO’s "John Adams" solidified its position as an Emmy frontrunner, converting eight of its 23 nominations to lead the way at the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. "John Adams’"s wins for casting, costumes, prosthetic makeup, visual effects, sound mixing, editing, cinematography and art direction gave HBO 16 overall nods to lead all networks, followed by ABC and PBS with nine apiece and CBS with eight. Among the guest acting categories, Kathryn Joosten made it two-for-two at the Emmys, picking up a second statuette for her role as busybody neighbor Karen McCluskey on ABC's comedy "Desperate Housewives."
