'Quantum' continues overseas streak
November 16, 2008 Agent 007 left the foreign boxoffice shaken and stirred as Sony/MGM's "Quantum of Solace" grossed a commanding $56.1 million from 10,460 screens in 67 markets, making the 22nd James Bond installment No. 1 overseas for a third consecutive weekend. A Mexico debut contributed $2.4 million from 505 screens, which, according to Sony, is a record opening gross for a Bond title in that market. By comparison, "Casino Royale," the 2006 series predecessor to "Solace," grossed $599.1 million globally, with the bulk of that total ($432.1 million) coming from overseas markets.
