'Amateur American' a Likely Story

November 13, 2008 Anthony Bregman's production outfit Likely Story has acquired Crown's upcoming political thriller "The Amateur American" for a big-screen adaptation. J. Saunders Elmore's debut novel follows a young American expatriate in France whose translating job for a shadowy powerbroker draws him into violent political intrigue, corruption and murder. " 'The Amateur American' is this generation's 'Three Days of the Condor' -- a swift, smart, complex novel of a young man stumbling into a murky world of contemporary terrorism/counter-terrorism, where the mechanics of deception override the politics," Bregman says.
