Fatih Akin collaborator wins German prize

December 02, 2008 Andrew Bird, filmmaker Fatih Akin's longtime collaborator, has won the 2008 Schnitt Prize, one of Germany's top film editing awards, for his work on Akin's "The Edge of Heaven." The Schnitt Prize for best documentary went to Gines Olivares and Wolfgang Reinke for the film "Nicht bose sein!" (Don't be mad!), which follows three unemployed men living together in an apartment in Berlin. The Schnitt Prizes were presented at a ceremony Monday night in Cologne to close the 2008 Film Plus festival, which honors film editors with workshops and retrospectives.
