Cox, Star bring India to Virginia
September 03, 2008 Cox Communications, the third-largest cable provider in the U.S., and Star, a wholly-owned subsidiary of News Corp., are launching a trio of popular Indian television channels on Cox Communications' digital cable platform in Northern Virginia. The launch, announced Wednesday, represents Star's first cable distribution deal in the U.S. and bolsters Cox Communications' current lineup of Indian content for viewers across Northern Virginia, which has one of the largest South Asian populations in North America. The Hindi entertainment channel Star One and Bollywood movie channel Star India Gold go for $8.99 each.
