U.K. Film Council creates Film Festival Fund


June 15, 2008 Seven film festivals across Britain have secured a share of 740,000 pounds ($1.4 million) that the U.K. Film Council will dish out over the next three years via its Film Festival Fund. The Birds Eye View Film Festival and the Sheffield International Documentary Festival were the biggest winners, each scooping up 175,000 pounds ($341,000) to fuel expansion ambitions. Also securing funding is the Belfast-based Cinemagic World Screen Film and Television Festival for Young People, which was granted 150,000 pounds ($292,000) to take the event on tour in Scotland, Wales, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield and Bristol.
