BFI unveils results of Visions for the Future poll

October 10, 2008 The poll, set up and run as part of the BFI's year-long 75th birthday celebrations, also includes David Lean's "Lawrence of Arabia" and Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather" in its top five. Almost 20,000 people participated, voting in ballot boxes across the U.K. and online through the BFI website and YouTube. To kickstart the debate, the BFI initially asked 75 guest contributors from film, television and current affairs to nominate which film they’d like to show to future generations, and the reasons for their choice.
