Friday's debate down 16% from 2004
September 29, 2008 Nielsen Media Research said late Monday that 52.4 million viewers tuned in to see the debate from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. ABC averaged 11 million viewers and a 3.5 rating in adults 18-49, Nielsen Media Research said. Fox Broadcasting's coverage of the debate, which was anchored by Shepard Smith, averaged 3.9 million viewers.
