Ebert to appear at Gotham Awards
October 19, 2007 Roger Ebert will make his first New York public appearance since falling ill when he receives a special tribute at the Gotham Awards next month. The trade-group IFP, which organize the prizes celebrating New York film, is also expected to announce Friday that set designer Mark Friedberg will be given a tribute. The new tributes come after an announcement earlier in the week that New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, actor Javier Bardem, IFC Films chief Jonathan Sehring and producer-director Mira Nair will also be honored at the event.
