'Pineapple Express' tops DVD charts
January 14, 2009 The year is getting off to a fruity start, with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's "Pineapple Express" topping the national home video sales and rental charts its first week in stores. The comedy, which grossed $87.3 million in U.S. theaters, easily took the No. 1 spot on both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Home Media Magazine's rental chart, beating three other new releases. The Anchor Bay thriller "Righteous Kill," with $40 million in theatrical earnings, debuted at No. 2 on both the sales and the rental chart.
