SAG, AMPTP return to negotiating table
November 21, 2008 SAG and the majors are back to the negotiating table for a second day of talks at the AMPTP's Sherman Oaks headquarters, following a 12-hour marathon meeting Thursday with a federal mediator. SAG and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers continue to keep mum about the meetings being facilitated by federal mediator Juan Carlos Gonzalez, who was called in last month by the actors' union to intervene. Since then, the AMPTP has said negotiations were over and has stood firm on its offer, indicating that with the economic downturn, SAG is unlikely to get a deal superior to what the other major guilds gained, including the WGA, DGA and AFTRA.
