"The Proposal," a Touchstone Pictures comedy starring Sandra Bullock that grossed $163.8 million in theaters, debuted at No. 1 on both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Home Media Magazine's rental chart. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," meanwhile, remained the top-selling Blu-ray Disc for a second consecutive week. But the real talk of the town was Paramount/DreamWorks' "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which arrived in stores Oct. 20 and within 24 hours had sold 2 million discs, according to industry sources -- giving the sell-through business, down 13.9% for the year, a badly needed shot in the arm. More good news followed with word that 20th Century Fox's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," the first of the summer tentpoles to be released on disc, had become the top-selling new release Blu-ray disc of the year, with more than 500,000 units snapped up by consumers since the title's Sept. 15 release, according to Home Media Magazine market research estimates. "I think we're all breathing a lot easier," one industry observer said. In addition to "The Proposal," two other theatrical features were released on DVD and Blu-ray disc last week, both from Universal Studios. "Land of the Lost," which took in just $49.4 million at the boxoffice, debuted at No. 3 on the First Alert sales chart, behind "Snow White," and No. 2 on the rental chart. The acclaimed horror film "Drag Me to Hell," with a boxoffice take of $42.1 million, debuted at No. 4 on the sales chart and No. 5 on the rental chart, behind "Year One" and "Monsters vs. Aliens."
