On the heels of announcing a major sustainability initiative, the owners of Manhattan’s iconic Empire State Building have tapped Joseph Bellina to serve as the tower’s new general manager. Bellina, 47, most recently served as president & principal with Property Advisors Inc., a real estate and advisory services firm. From 2005 through 2008, he was with Newmark Knight Frank, most recently as executive vice president heading up property management for a 40 million-square-foot portfolio. Several months ago, the Empire State Building’s ownership group—a partnership between Peter L. Malkin and the estate of the late Leona Helmsley—announced a plan to reduce the building’s total energy consumption by 38 percent. In addition, the owners plan to gain LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for the 1,450-square-foot tower
