Glastonbury Tributes For Michael Jackson
June 26, 2009 - Global | Touring | Rock and Pop

By Andre Paine, London

This weekend's Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. is set to feature musical tributes to Michael Jackson, while the site is wet and muddy for yet another year.

Australian pop act Gabriella Cilmi performed part of Jackson's "Billie Jean" earlier today (June 26) during her set on the Pyramid Stage at the festival in Somerset, which has capacity of 175,000.

It remains to be seen how American artists on the bill will mark the singer's passing: U.S. acts performing today include Animal Collective, Jason Mraz and Lady Gaga.

"There will be tributes all over the site all weekend," said Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis on the festival's Twitter page. Eavis works on the annual music festival with her father and festival founder, dairy farmer Michael Eavis.

Neil Young headlines the Pyramid Stage tonight, while Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band headlines tomorrow. U.K. rock act Blur closes the festival on Sunday.

Despite the current mud from the overnight rain, the forecast is for sunnier weather for the rest of the weekend, although there is a chance of showers on Sunday.
