Hastings, Giant Eagle Win At EMA Convention

The Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) named Hastings Entertainment as chain entertainment specialist retailer of the year during its annual convention, held today (June 24) at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Giant Eagle Inc. picked up the award for mass merchant/grocery, while Netflix won the online award. Meanwhile, the EMA's Independent Dealers of Entertainment Assn. chose Video Plus & Tanning, a Rice Lake, Wis.-based store for its single store retailer of the year award and Island Video Inc., as the multi-store category.
The merger of the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) and the Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association (IEMA) formed EMA.
