Latin Stars Give 'Life' To City Of Hope Project
November 02, 2009 - Latin

By Ayala Ben-Yehuda, L.A.

Universal Music Group will promote and distribute an original song, "La Gota de la Vida," ("the drop of life") to benefit Los Angeles cancer research center City of Hope and its Hispanic outreach campaign for bone marrow donations.

Latin music luminaries including Enrique Iglesias, Gloria Estefan, David Bisbal, Luis Fonsi, Plácido Domingo, Arthur Hanlon, Wisin & Yandel, Aleks Syntek, Noel Schajris, Germán Montero, Marcos Witt and Shaila Dúrcal will record the song, written by pianist Arthur Hanlon. Recording sessions for "La Gota de la Vida" begin during Latin Grammy week, held this week in Las Vegas, with additional recording sessions to be held in Los Angeles and Miami. The "We Are The World"-style project will also have a video to be taped in Vegas this week by director Simon Brand and produced by Mauricio Osorio of Aluna Films.

The song and video for "La Gota de la Vida" will premiere in Los Angeles on Feb. 11. The project's executive producer is Luis Medina of UNO Productions, a veteran of a similar Spanish-language UNICEF anthem, "Cantaré Cantarás".
