Primal Scream Looks To 'Future' With Pre-Release Project
June 30, 2008 - Global | Digital and Mobile | Rock and Pop

By Lars Brandle, London

Primal Scream's awaited new album "Beautiful Future" will be supported by a novel multi-platform marketing push which rewards hard-core fans in the United Kingdom who pre-order the set on iTunes.

With effect from Tuesday (July 1), visitors to the U.K. iTunes Music Store who pre-order the album prior to its July 21 official release will be ahead of the pack when it comes to buying tickets for the Scottish rockers' tour.

Early purchases will later generate an email, which can be used at Ticketmaster.co.uk to buy tickets before general sale to the public. The offer will run for a 48-hour period from July 30. Anyone who pre-orders the album will also receive an additional bonus track, "Time Of The Assassins." Meanwhile, another exclusive track, "Urban Guerrilla," is offered to fans who download the album via iTunes, and to those who sign-up to the band's mailing list via their official Web site.

"Beautiful Future" will be Primal Scream's ninth studio album, and their first through their new label-home, B-Unique. The first single "Can't Go Back" will street July 14.

The "Beautiful Future" download initiative, forged between B-Unique, a division of Atlantic Records U.K., iTunes in the U.K., and Ticketmaster U.K., mirrors a similar project which also rolls out Tuesday in support of CSS' new album, "Donkey."
